Senior associate with focused litigation practice. Bills
approximately 1,800 hours per year. Travels extensively within 3
state area. Approximately 60% of work on own clients. Delegates
approximately 1,000 hours of work per year to two associates and
directly supervises their work. Shares assistant with two lawyers.
Does not work with paralegal.
Issues
• Would
like to practice for 25 to 30 years before retirement. Will
rent office space and employ part-time administrative support.
Considering office and administrative sharing arrangement with other
solo attorney(s). Proficient with word processing and email. Not
familiar with "back office" technologies and minimal familiarity
with corporate and business law. Due to workload and family
responsibilities, has limited time to organize new firm, implement
operating processes and set up office.
Services
•
Advise and assist with selecting and organizing business entity and
obtaining bar certification, employer ID number and state privilege
license. Review and negotiate
lease and vendor contracts. Prepare office sharing agreement.
• Advise on
technology, furnishing and equipment requirements including
hardware, software and service providers. Acquire, install and
configure systems, including exchange-based email, BlackBerry
synchronization, laptop with remote access, time/billing/accounting and
document management system. Identify and engage service provider to
prepare simple website. Consultation regarding operations processes
for successful implementation of systems with practice requirements.
Periodic consultation on operations and technology as needed.
